Easy Upcycled Autumn Rosette Wreath

Alright, so I wanted a fun Fallish wreath for my front door but I'm tired of spending money on stuff. So, I picked up a tacky grapevine wreath at D.I. (thrift store) and got rid of all the tacky bits attatched to it (tole-painted bunny and carrot...blech). Some of it was glued on but I just pulled it off and picked the glue off. And it was only two bucks!

I rummaged through my massive collection of fabric. Really? Why do I have so much fabric? Do I have some sort of compulsive fabric-buying problem or what? Sheesh. It's starting to get a bit embarrassing...

Then I ripped all these lovely colors into strips...about an inch and a bit wide...

I took two strips, tied them in a knot on one end and then twisted and folded them until I had rosettes...

I hot glued the end to the bottom and then hot glued a piece of circular felt to the bottom. Need better instructions for making these lovelies? Just google Rosette Tutorial and you should be set! Now all there was left for me to do was arrange them how I wanted, blob on more hot glue and put it all together....

And then pop it on my door...

Voila! My $2 wreath!

  11. This is fabulous Erin! I too have a massive collection of fabric from when I was going to sew my girls all kinds of cute dresses when they were little - they are now 14 and 17 and all the patterns I bought are a little small :) Love this wreath though - definitely want to try it out! Thanks for the inspiration :)
